Ryan Boren e61ac6e607 Make read_post more useful. Map read_post to edit_post for posts with protected post states. This makes read_post work naturally for draft, future, and pending posts belonging to other users. If the current user cannot edit these non-public posts then the user should not be able to read them either.

Ryan Boren 2dbb51b71f Fix removing the default background image for themes that hard-code the default in css. Honor the default background image for themes that do not provide a fallback in css. 
* <style> will appear if there is a default image registered. This is the same as 3.3.
* If only a default color is registered, it still assumes it is in the stylesheet, and no <style> will appear. This is a change from 3.3.
* <style> will continue to appear as before if there is a custom background color or image. This is the same as 3.3.
* This then allows for a default background image with background-image: none, overriding style.css. This is new.

Ryan Boren 9c2fe1c948 Load the customize preview over ssl if the customize admin page is loaded over ssl and the frontend and admin are on the same domain. This avoids insecure content warnings and allows a more complete preview in browsers such as Chrome that block loading of css until user confirmation allows mixed content loading. see #20702

Ryan Boren b36e895a24 Create a new attachment and make a copy of the image when selecting an image from the image library. This prevents orphaning the header if the original attachment is deleted. This also prevents stomping of meta. 
Add a button to skip cropping.

Ryan Boren b5156f1b47 Don't force frontend scheme to match backend. This fails if the frontend doesn't have proper SSL certs. Access-Control-Allow-Origin handles this without the need to make the schemes match. see #20507

Ryan Boren 6f90e8abd6 Don't split the main query if there is no limit. This helps avoid extremely long query strings that could cause segfaults. Allow plugins to control splitting via split_the_query filter. see #20628

* Introduce delete_with_user flag to register_post_type
* Set delete_with_user to false for the nav_menu_item post type
* Set it to true for all other core post types
* If delete_with_user is not set, fallback to post_type_supports('author')
